​We are kicking off the Battle Axe Open on Friday the 23rd of January with two big tournaments putting the spotlight on some of the community cornerstones!

On Friday 23.01.25, there will be:

All tournaments are set to be epic with cash and prizes on the line.​

PREMIER BIG AXE
IATF - Feature Tournament 

​

We know you love some Big Axe action, so this year we are dropping the ‘Vertical Around the World’ competition of BAO’s past and committing to a full Premier Big Axe Tournament!

Ticket Price: $75 per player

Registration/Warm Up: 9:00 AM

Tournament Start Time: 9:30 AM

​

Prize Pool: $400 (1st: $175, 2nd: $125, 3rd: $100) + Merch & Sponsors Prizes

IATF - Feature Tournament: The 1st place finisher will receive a reserved spot into a comparable tournament at the 2026 International Axe Throwing Championships

Tournament Rules:

• Open tournament

• IATF ‘Premier’ Ruleset

Tournament Format:

• Random Seeding Matches into a Single Elimination bracket, that all players qualify for.

 

​The number of random seeing matches will be between 3-5, to be determined by the final number of competitors registered in the event. 
 

Giving each competitor a minimum of 4-6 matches with their registration fee.

Tiebreakers:

• If both players finish on a tied score then players will go to a sudden death Clutch throw off with the closest result to a Clutch taking the win.

• If both players hit a ‘Touch’ Clutch or both hit a ‘Premier’ Clutch the sudden death Clutch throw off repeats itself.

End your Friday night with double the fun and double the action in our Doubles Tournament! Grab a partner and take on the competition in this fan-favorite event that’s become a Battle Axe Throwing classic.

But it’s not just about the throws - bring your A-game and your best look! We’re awarding a special prize to the best-dressed team.

• IATF Premier Ruleset

 

Tournament Format:

• Seeded, Single Elimination

• Competitors will have a minimum of 5 matches

​The number of random seeing matches will be between 3-5, to be determined by the final number of competitors registered in the event.

Doubles Rules:

• The normal IATF throwing rule set but with a partner!

• Scores for both thrown axes are totaled each throw.

• Both throwers must throw approximately in sync with each other.

• If an axe sticks into a partner's axe aka ‘Robin Hooding’, the score of the axe attached to the target is doubled.

• On the fifth throw of each round both, one or neither competitors may elect to go up for a Clutch
